Selaginella uncinata 'Peacock' (Blue Spike Moss)

Native to China and Vietnam, this stunning Selaginella is iridescent, the shimmering leaves displaying a range of blue and green tones. This selaginella has delicate fern-like fronds and is low growing and spreading -which make it perfect for use in a closed terrarium. Commonly know as blue spike moss, this plant isn't a moss at all, it belongs to the clade Lycophyte, which is one of the oldest groups of vascular plants! Lycophytes used to dominate the Earths surface, growing in habitats over 300 million years ago, with fossils that illustrate their existence.

RATING- Moderate

LOVES- A mostly shady to shady spot. The colour will fade in bright light and direct sunlight will burn the leaves. Water frequently and enjoys being throughly soaked, check every few days to ensure the soil doesn't dry out.

HATES- Direct sun and drying out

Pot diameter 12cm
