Oreocereus trollii (Old Man Cactus/ Old Man of the Andes) - British Grown Cacti
A stunning column cactus, covered in hair, with red-orange spines that poke out of the wool. Native to Mountainous areas of South America specifically South Bolivia and Northern Argentina. This cacti is often known as the Old Man of the Andes. This shrubby columnar cactus has thick 'hair' which is important for protecting the plant against the night frost and intense sun that can be found in the altitudes in which it resides. It branches from the base and can reach up to 50cm tall and up to 10cm wide!
RATING- Very Easy
LOVES- Well draining, porous soil. Lots of bright light.
HATES- Water-logged soil. Being kept at one temperature, this cactus likes warm days and cool nights.
