Helleborus Niger Mont Blanc, also known as Christmas rose, is an asset to every garden. This strong plant blooms in winter with beautiful saucer-shaped white flowers. The Christmas rose is especially popular because of its flowering time, as this is between January in April when many other plants are still in hibernation. The white flowers of Helleborus Mont Blanc can turn pink at the end of its bloom. The Christmas rose originates in the calcareous mountainous areas with coniferous forests of the Eastern Alps and the Northern Apennines. The spatulate leaves of Helleborus Mont Blanc are longer and thinner than those of many other Helleborus species and hybrids. The name 'Helleborus' comes from the Greek words elein, which means to injure, and borus, which means food. This means the name of the plant refers to its toxicity.
Care Helleborus Mont Blanc is not the easiest garden plant to care for because the plant has many requirements for location. The soil should be well-drained, fertile and calcareous. The plants prefer a sheltered, semi-shaded spot and can remain there for years. This plant also looks good in a facade garden, as the soil there is very calcareous. If the leaves become unsightly, they can be cut off at the bottom. The plant will then form new leaves. Unfortunately, we are not the only ones who love the Christmas rose
Size The plants have a height of 20-30cm upon delivery, measured including the nursery pot. The plants are supplied in a nursery pot with a diameter of 12cm.
